Jazz in oldie styles, a rich blues-laden mix with heavy New Orleans influences and big-band experience. Definite blues forms -- the right chords, the right kinds of vocals and lyrics -- led by Francois' colorfully growly trumpet. Short solos, like in the old days.
These are 1980s sessions organized by Francois to highlight saxophonists Franz Jackson and Eddie Johnson. Liner notes detail who's soloing when.
