Album Review
Your Imaginary Friend

Entering a time-warp and drinking from the guitar-centered rock of the early 80’s a la U2. In fact, U2 comes to mind with this band almost too much for comfort. Red Lorry Yellow Lorry, Roxy, Furs, Ultravox, even JD and New Odor also sneak in. The singer pulls off a non-melodic lyrical deliver very reminiscent of PiL era John Lydon, which can be annoying to say the least when fronting U2 instead. The promo likens Savage Republic too, and I suppose I can see that, but my 80’s damaged head cant get too far past the chorused chiming stratocaster of the Edge. But that’s just me, and this is actually quite elegant material. Definitely judge for yourself.

1) very classic 80’s melodic, Lydon’esque voc delivery
2) U2 guitar stylings getting more apparent in this slower, moodier cut , tribal tom tom beats
3) epic toned, a bit more driving
4) chiming chorus of The Edge guitar style, tom tom slower meander
5) more dark tribalness
6) slow swing triplet, swaying and soaring, nice
7) tom tom beats, more chiming
8) birdlike, spooky swampy tape loop quiet fade-in, with sheep sounds, I can see the Savage Republic here a bit, no vocals
9) quintessential 80’s high hat/tom tom beat that I could just feel coming, a good one
10) instrumental piano piece, a regal flare
