Terrible Birds

Oakland-based band with a mix of gothic and other dark and sullen sounds. Lots of tribal drumming. The vocals are an odd but interesting mix of Siouxie Sioux and Carrie Brownstein of Sleater-Kinney. This mix doesn’t work everytime but generally it’s a pretty compelling blend.
((((1))) Varied drumming, goth-y vox, minimal keyboard patterns.
(((2))) Bahaus-like beat, creepy tempo, the vocals are too focus on annoying, scathing high-notes.
(((((3))))) Up beat, driving new-waveish darkness. Sioxie meets X-Ray Spex. Excellent!
(((4))) Slow, murky, early 80’s British sound namely: The Cure, Cocteau Twins and Sisters of Mercy
((((5)))) Trippy, slow movie soundtrackish, poetic/spoken lyrics, broken up scattered noises, percussion.
(((6))) Slow, meandering, so-so vocals.
(((7))) Winding, strummy, (FCC “Shit” sung twice)
((((8)))) Bleak & moody, slooow strums, pretty close to locals Neither, Neither World.
(((I(9)))) Noisy guitar, bassy backbone, campy yet dark keyboards. Bombastic chorus.
