Countried indie doom-pop from long time Saddle Creek mainstay Ted Stevens. Their third release is similar to The Handsome Family in that most songs tell a dark tale of substance abuse, depravity, or death. This gothic theme runs through a collection of Americana styles ranging from Blues, Country Waltz, Rockabilly, Honky Tonk, Gospel, & even Bluegrass. Complimented with both upbeat rockers & dour ballads, Bushido Karaoke is surprisingly good. A highly recommended release for those tortured souls who find that the blood on the saddle is often their own. FCC Clean. Faves: 5, 9, 12, & 8.
