Improvised noise collaboration for dance (Merce Cunningham) and collaboration between 3 improvisers/noise makers from 3 different times/worlds. This is one, fairly active and aggressive 50 minute piece. Christian Marclay does his usual box of records and turntables, Christian Wolff is from the Cage/Feldman world and has written pieces for non-musicians, open instrumentation, etc and Yasunao Tone is a Fluxus artist from the 60s who uses prepared CDs and CD players.
The track goes through many changes as the 3 interact. Each takes his turn in the lead and I think because of Wolff’s bass guitar and the use of records and CDs this has an electro acoustic feel.
Busy, cathartic, funny, seamless player interaction, and on and on. I think this is as good as improvisation gets.
Great stuff. -mph
