Steve Lacy / Roswell Rudd – School Days

Reissue of an early sixties live date featuring a young Lacy and Rudd along with a powerhouse rhythm section of Henry Grimes and Dennis Charles. They're coving Monk tunes here, and fresh from a stint in Monk's group they're in top form. Absolutely amazing performances all around: the interplay between Lacy and Rudd, the bass soloing from Grimes and some stunning drum work from Charles.
This is the real deal!!

*1. Med tempo funky calypso
**2. Deliberate blues alternates w/ double time, awesome drumming, great bass solo
**3. Funky bop
*4. Intricate ballad
**5. Great Monk groove
*6. Fast, flighty bop
7. Wandering improv
