OTR hail from Anacortes Washington. They are back with a new lineup spurting their Captain Beefheart inspired fever songs mixed with a Gang of Four style dance groove feel embedded with the blues of Howling Wolf. Songs are a little more subdued than in the past but still emotive, raw and powerful. Dissonant jangly guitars, dark and spooky. Imagine a Southern Baptist minister singing on LSD! Praise the lord! –tHE bAWd oF eUPHONy 1**(3:54) Steady dance beat with Arrington doo doing. Raw chanting begins with wild guitar and organ crazyness. Welcome to the party… 2*(3:22) Lower groove with repeated guitar & bass line. Traffic talking. Howling bass clarinet. 3**(4:19) Very Beefheart. Cool beat. Fucking crazy piano and screetching. Fun and twisted 4*(2:11) Bassy and restrained. Very very snakey. Oh its called Reptilians, perfect! 5**(2:15) Drony monk chanting intro. Flash Gordon? No. Its, its, fucking weird is what it is. 6*(3:08) Power stomp. Tom Waits’ Bone Machine on 45, Cool 7**(1:35) piano and bass clarinet Interlude. Sun Ra? Very wierd 8**(5:14) Slow, surfy, doomy groove. I luv it! Evol shit! Gritty as hell. 9**(2:40) Organ intro into wiggly guitar and circular goove. Verby vox. Very very cool! 10*(1:30) Jews Harp underwater. I feel violated for some reason. STOP! 11**(2:08) Menancing pulse. Sexy. Makes me want to DO-IT in the dirt (or the road). 12**(6:54) Steady organ intro. Droney w/ Clarinet flibbs. I feel the power of the lord! Fucking A this is so fucking rad!
