We, Who Once Were
Emotional, jagged, and dense rock. Dramatic, complicated and rough. Complex chords, abrupt rhythm changes. At its poppiest, borders on heavy melodramtic emo. The songs have sections and develop. Lyrics are at times overwrought, but singer pulls it off. Brian Pennington plays and sings everything. No FCCs. Picks: 1,2,3,6,8.
*1) Pounding bass drum and bass. Sophisticated chord clusters.
**2) Exciting drum accents. Theatric. Catchy harmonies. Driving groove towards end.
*3) Opens with cool harmonics riff on guitar. Thinly veiled anti-war/empire message. Tense guitar chords. Long song with militaristic feel.
4) Short song with strange guitar effect.
5) Angry drums. Vocals nearly monotone with reverb.
**6) Similar in beginning to 2. Bee swarm guitar. Syncopated drum. Lots of energy
7) Incongruous introverted piano interlude.
**8) Song with two parts. First part is slower. Nice harmony and melody. Second part is a sad and quiet reflection on death.
