Colour Up is an album of indie pop by the emerging band, The Recital. Their sound is reminiscent of another indie pop / rock band, Pavement. Many of the songs have creative intros that experiment with sound played by toy pianos, synthesizers, or beats inspired by sixties pop.

FCC clean.
1. Restrained voice screams, “A picture is worth a thousand pounds” with pop, and barely punk guitar riffs.

2. Eighties-like pop rock. Stark -- simple power chords accompany a voice whispering, “…looking through your point of view…I get a little dizzy too…”

3. *pick*
Sweet techno-ish synthesizer beats evolve to unified guitar and drum riffs. Vocals whale,
“Do you still want me on your side?”

4. Melodic guitar riffs open song and evolve to heavier pop with a hint of folk .

5. Slow quiet. The sound of a ticking toy clock played by a toy piano begins the song. Voice with a light echo sings “My lazy eye won’t stay awake. I give more time… than I can take…” behind a single guitar.

6. Spacealien-like sounds abruptly shift to pop / punk instrumentals that accompany the chorus, “We are weapons on weekends.”

7. Sixties pop beat accompanies a restrained voice asking, “Can you tell the winners from the losers?”

8. *pick*
Flaming Lips-esque -- sounds like a nursery rhyme. “…They left a message on the wall that some get all the medicine…some get none at all…”

9. Sixties-like pop with a little punk and organ riffs. Small voices sing, “I can wait…I’m overextended…”

10. More somber than the other tracks. “Now we know how the end goes.”

11. Chill guitar riffs and drum beats accompany vocals that whine, “Her finger prints are all around.”

12. Opening recalls sixties surfer movie soundtracks and evolves to rock and ends in piano.

13. Distant vocals sing about seeing through “telescope reflections”. Carnival sounding instrumentals.
