Need It Now
|Elias (Dr Furious)|
Local Stanford/San Francisco trio. Two males and a female bassist/lead singer that she belts it like no tomorrow. The Parting Gift does a noisy/intelligent blend of smoky 90s rock with angular noise and indie melodies. Mathy as Don Caballero, slashy and edgy as Fugazi, and melodic as Juliana Hatfield? The facial expressions of their drummer during their live gigs says it all. Play this shit. It rocks!!! |
My picks: A1 and A2
1. “Need it Now”. Awesome angular/noisy no-wavy piece with slashy punk guit chops and an infectious guitar riff that makes you crave for more. Hands-down one of the best singles ever!!! Love it!
2. “Firecall”. Fugazi-esque song structure. Alternates between fast and slow. Fugazi-esque guitar chops and indi-er melodies and feel. Yeah rock it!
1. “Alibi”. Slow, atmospheric, groovy. Male vocals.
Early-mid 90s indie rock.
