Chauncy Sunderland Reviewed 2006-01-12 | ||
Experimental improvisation by a two person group. They rotate instruments: alto & tenor sax, drums, bass, and electronics. The riffs aren't exactly even free jazz riffs. The drums especially tend towards Black Metal patterns. The results are good! No FCCs. All good. 1) tenor sax squeals with alto sax being a modulating siren. halfway, alto breaks into crazy improv, with guitar-like riffs. 8:25 2) very low electronic rumble, nice drumming with a lot of kick drum, provide bedding for alto sax free-jazz improv. over-dubbed guitar sounds. 8:34 3) two drum sets. a lot of kick drum and snare. 2:23 4) jazzier drum improv. tenor sax tends towards more vocalizations, less riffing 6:17 5) darker. ominous guitar/electric sounds. threatening sawed bass......and drums. 7:39 genauer@math.stanford.edu |
