Yes, the title is ironic, although four of the six tracks are dedicated to blues legends.
These are free-form abstract duets, guitar and sax, bustling with energy even in the quieter tracks. What's impressive is the range of sounds -- tracks like 4 and 6 paint the kinds of aural canvasses normally found in experimental electronics.
Both men are from Sweden. Stackenas plays a busy, non-tonal guitar; the obvious reference is Derek Bailey. On sax, Gustafsson leaves his screaming-punk mode on the shelf in favor of fast clicky sounds (a nice complement to the guitar), or slow, lingering atmosphere.
1- Groany and droney, with some fast pockets. Ends nicely on a long, lingering, last breath of sax, with shimmering guitar.
2- Fast and fierce, with lots of clicky "insect chatter" sounds. Long pause near the 1:00 mark -- artsy, but awkward for radio.
3- Slow, with sour, detuned guitar. Final two minutes get busy
4- Slow otherworldly fog. Builds an eerie, swampy atmosphere.
5- Choppy. Fast but rather sparse, lots of blank space.
6- Industrial drill and jackhammer sounds. Groany, rattling, non-musical. Cool! Ends with long, soft, morose sax tones.
