Good sounding (though not always inspired) live album from this Bay Area 2nd wave 80’s thrash metal band. If anything this is a good (no pun intended) ‘testament’ to their uneven career. This features the 1987-1992 line-up & has all songs from that era. File under “pretty good”.
((((1)))) Charging, mid-80’s ‘typical’ Bay Area thrash. (FCC mid-song banter “fuckin’ ” )
(((2))) Noodly guitars, catchy but raw vocals & some ‘OK’ parts.
((3)) Metallica riffiing with an Exodus-like charge. Weak chorus. Unintelligbile vocals, falls apart in too many places.!
(((4))) Kinda OK unintentionally mix of early 90’s mainstream grunge & metal. More stage banter. (FCC “Fuck Yes” 2:59-3:00)
((5)) Nu-metal meets mediocre early 90’s not quite thrash & not all that heavy metal?
(((6))) Pretty nice (though highly derivative) riffs, anthemic verses & chorus. Lots more (FCC “fuck yeah” at end of song & in stage banter “motherfuckers” during end of banter/track)
(((7))) So-so, squirrelly thrash, chorus falls on it’s face & sounds too forced.
(((8))) Formulatic (but good) thrash circa: 1987: Acoustic intro, mid-charge/crunch, gang vox. One of the worst ever written choruses, tho’.
(((9))) (FCC in the intro “fuck” & “fuckin’ ”) Dramatic build up, easy to follow & to the point vox, simple riff but their two drummers don’t add anything.
((10)) What Metallica could’ve became still sounding like “forced intensity” rather that a natural gut feeling.
(((11))) Good power-ballad. Not hair metal shit just pure metal with real feeling.
((((12)))) Rampaging, 100% Bay Area Thrash. On the minus side: more unintelligible lyrics (and not in a good way).
(((13))) (FCC “SHIT” in intro). Steady, crunchy & fast thrashin’. Good guitar sound but vocals are a little too mixed up –like he’s singing in another language.
(((14))) Standard 80’s gallop riffing mania. Once again too many loose parts & no final product. (FCC “fuck yeah” 2x “fuckin’”).
