Mix up some fruity rum drinks, Ma, we’re going to the Caribbean. A typically solid Putumayo collection of artists and sounds from all over the islands. No great surprises, but a nice sampling of music. Informative notes on both the performers and music. A portion of the proceeds benefit a charity in Haiti.

*1. Cool midtempo shimmy w/nice vocals & cool banjo accents. Fun.
2. Relaxed mento track (precursor to reggae). Light & catchy.
3. Female vocalist, uptempo dance wiggle w/a nice mix of influences.
*4. Fun midtempo Cuban-influenced track w/good vocals/horns/perc.
5. Midtempo love song w/synth/programming. Kinda cheesy.
6. Bouncy soca track w/a big sound of chorus/horns/perc.
7. Horn-driven uptempo pop w/strong vocals & a nice energy.
*8. Relaxed and sweet zouk. Flute/perc/vocals. Happy.
9. A horn-driven instrumental ska anthem.
10. Afro-Caribbean soca jam w/fun energy.
*11. Big dance groove w/cool male vox, horns, perc. Party!
12. Midtempo soca w/sort of a subdued energy.
