Avante mixture of chamber music, contemporary classical, experimental, pop, opera, and performance. This is an evolving collective of various musicians pushing the boundaries of chamber music whose “performances have included members of the Hold Steady, Ida, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Gang Gang Dance, World/Inferno Friendship Society, Jenny Toomey and Jon Langford, Elliot Sharp, Gutbucket, Balkan Beat Box, Alarm Will Sound and many, many, many more.” Great stuff for fans of W.A.C.O., Birdsongs of the Mesozoic, Bang on a Can, John Zorn, Ives. 1) quiet piano start shifts to pensive bow exchanges and minor brass, long contemporary avante classical composition suddenly shifts into a folky acoustic singer/songwriter tune about 7 minutes in (if you can imagine that), then the strings join back and the piece ends in dramatic fashion 2) pensive bassy piano, cool and dark sax and strings 3) minimal, spooky 4) urgent bass melodies 5) longer classical piece, very slow sparse beginning, mostly drawn out minimalism 6) vocal a cappela’s with pensive strings 7-13) strange chamber pop sounding but the male vocals get abstract and arty, concept art 14) operatic fem vocs join piano and male vocs 15) cool solo flute 16) mostly piano and strings, with some cool percussion 17) a cool briefer chamber art piece 18) strings continue the melody, interveaving with all | ||
