The Bawd Of Euphony
Reviewed 2006-02-21
Anacortes Washington is home to quite a scene of musical makers. Karl is one of them and probably one of the most brilliant. He has taken his lo-fi sensibilities and brewed them up larger to create this beautiful collection of pop gems. Creative and imaginative instrumentation (including lots of horn playing). Picture the Beach Boys colliding with a long lost doo-wop band headed by Paul Simon. Karl has been seen collaborating with Phil Elvrum (Microphones, Mount Eerie) ,Laura Viers, Little Wings, but its it solo work that really inspires the muse. This record is poppy with lots of moody hooks, good feelings and always a sense of experimentation and freedom. Play Play Play! -tHE bAWD oF euphony
