The Bawd Of Euphony Reviewed 2006-02-21 | ||
What’s the difference between a Robert Pollard Album and a Guided By Voices record? I have no fucking Idea. What I do know is that this record is more akin to Bee Thousand and Alien Lanes era GBV. Simple pop brilliance in a semi/lo-fi setting, lots of quick songs. RP doesn’t mess around, he gives you the hook, repeats the chorus and pulls out. You gotta love it. Noone is more prolific than Mr. Pollard with more than 30 records under his belt, yet he still finds a way to sound original and fresh. This record is filled with tones of gems. For those not familiar with Guided or Pollard, imagine The Who cut into short snigbits and recorded more modestly. Mr. Pollard does not disappoint, hook after hook, I freggin love it! For all mourning the loss of Guided By Voices, have no fear, he’s still here. -tHE bAWD oF euphony |
