He is a Gypsy. He does play the violin. And he plays it very well. So I guess he lives up to the title. Here it’s everything from classical to folk to jazz – with a lot of originals. He & most of the band played with the Hot Club of Dublin (there’s a Hot Club of Dublin? Who knew?), and tend to run a thread of Gypsy jazz through it all. He plays violin, viola, guitar. Backed by additional guitars, violins, and bass. All instrumentals.

*1. Folk dance w/varying tempos and lots of energy.
2. A slow, romantic Grapelli tune. Lovely.
3. Starts restrained, gets into a bright Gypsy jazz trio.
4. A slow, sad hora. Well played but a bit pale. Picks up at end.
5. Romantic, sweet, old-fashioned. Very pretty.
*6. Bright folk dance, mostly midtempo, then gets fast.
*7. Starts slow, picks up, driving strings. Gets jazzy. Cool.
8. He’s his own trio on this one. Mostly mid, picks up. Folksy.
*9. Uptempo blend of Gypsy folk/jazz. Fun.
10. Starts slow/nostalgic, gets faster, slower. Sweetly melodic.
11. Midtempo, then bouncy. Sweet Gypsy-Jewish love song.
12. Based on a Pushkin story. An elegant, classical sound. Slow.
13. Midtempo, solid rhythm. Varying tempos. Classic Gypsy folk.
14. Starts slow, gets fast, then slow… Nicely emotional at times.
