The Bawd Of Euphony

Dirty Three (Mick Turner, Warren Ellis & Jim White) have been making beautiful instrumental records for years (with the occasion guest vocal). This, their 7th release, feels just as fresh as their first. Part of this is that each record has been conceived in unique situation and this one was no different. Created, and rehearsed during a 2 week period on Phillip Island, in South Eastern Victoria, Australia. This music is scenic with swells and builds typical of a Dirty Three record. Violin, guitar, and flowing drums dominate the instrumentation with various loops, acoustics and other toys delicately added in. This record seems a bit more focused with shorter pieces and simpler arrangements. Cat Power’s Chan Marshal lends her voice to a track as does Sally Timmons (The Mekons). Beautiful, calm & organic, yet filled with fire and life. Epic!! One of my favorites of them to date. PLAY THIS! -tHE bAWD oF eUPHONy
