Indian vocal music. Sweet yet powerful singer backed by a small combo including santoor, violin, tabla. Most tracks develop a solid mid/fast beat but carry a proud, slowish feel. Bandyopadhyay is the daughter of tabla master Pandit Sankha Chatterjee, who plays on here.

UPDATE: Wow, apparently she's on the new William Parker jazz album, "Double Sunrise over Neptune."

1- Processional: Steady mid/fast beat that feels slowish. Interesting minor-key tones
2- Steady midtempo beat, after a floating intro, quite nice
3- Patient and grand. Builds energy after a placid start.
4- Slowish and sparse; crooning vocal and splashes of sitar. Tabla joins later for a mildly driven beat.
5- Mid/fast tempo but a slowish feel, maybe a bit melancholy.
6- Grand swirling feel, slowish.
