Mainstream quartet led by sax and guitar, a straight sound that draws a lot from the west coast jazz of the '50s. Mostly on tenor sax, burly but w/silken, clear tones. Guitar is a light, traditional jazz guitar. Solid stuff, not flashy. Note Mayhew's penchant for writing in odd time signatures.
1- Upbeat swingy blues in 7/8
2- Standard twisted into a 7/8 Latin piece
3- Mid/slow, romantic
4- Light, happy, mid/fast. Soprano sax (or is it the "guiro"?)
5- Midtempo, relaxed, built on long tones
6- Breezy. Mid/fast minor key, starts slow.
7- Funked-up Monk cover
8- Mellow midtmpo
9- Slow, wistful. Soprano sax
10- Blues in 5/4. Pleasant.
