Bay area guitarist favoring soul/funk settings and a "nighttime jazz" sheen. Mainstream stuff heavy in organ and vibes, with a mellow feel but tempos fast enough to deliver some nicely involved solos. Horns appear only here and there but add a nice change of pace. Dangerously verges on smooth jazz here and there, but Keys turns in some nice work overall. 1- Latin, kind of, with percussion and mid/fast horns 2- Thumpy drums and mysterious air, fairly fast 3- Fast minor-key jam. Pleasant jazz chorus. 4- Adventurous. Fast floaty playing and a complex jazz middle 5- After-hours stuff, funky mellow, mid/fast. Ick. 6- Mildly spacey start; digs in for a nicely aggressive jam 7- Echoey 7/4 time, a friendly warm soul/jazz bit. 8- Cool vibes feel. Picks up after a slowish intro, into a nicely rolling pace. 9- Mellow and flowing 10- Softly jazzy, with a fairly fast pace. 11- Slowly funky '70s horn line, a crisp snappy midtempo piece | ||
