The Peruvian diva explores more of her Afro-Peruvian roots with this release which includes poems set to music (including works by Neruda & Scorza), a duet with Gilberto Gil, and some traditional Peruvian folk tunes. She has a warm, slightly husky voice, an emotional, jazzy style, and a strong acoustic band. Nice strings, especially. It’s all low key and sweet, but very, very good. Lyrics in Spanish, French, and English.

1. Lightly driving, mid/uptempo w/sweet strings/accordion.
*2. Sweet, downtempo duet w/Gilberto Gil. Strings, a hint of jazz.
*3. Mid/up, driving Neruda poem w/chorus, strings/perc. Cool.
4. Slow, gentle, delicate w/a sad feeling. Pretty.
*5. Starts relaxed, picks up energy. Mostly mid/chorus, cool guitar
6. Delicate&simple blend of vox/guitar at first. Picks up.
7. Slow & romantic. Strings, vocals, very gentle & warm.
*8. Soft love song w/fragile vocals, soft accents from band. Sigh…
9. Soft & gentle broken heart song.
*10. Updated folksong w/a hint of darkness. Down/midtempo.
*11. A lazy, lightly jazzy love song. Gentle, evocative, so good.
*12. Bright, lightly bouncy folk song w/nice strings/vox/claps.
