The Peruvian diva explores more of her Afro-Peruvian roots with this release which includes poems set to music (including works by Neruda & Scorza), a duet with Gilberto Gil, and some traditional Peruvian folk tunes. She has a warm, slightly husky voice, an emotional, jazzy style, and a strong acoustic band. Nice strings, especially. It’s all low key and sweet, but very, very good.
