Techie death metal to the extreme. Highly technical guitar playing and extremely heavy, fast and complicated music. This is pretty much a one man show. He plays guitar, writes the songs, sings and programs the drums. Yup, you read that right; this is not a real drummer. Think bands like Cynic or Nile with touches of old-school death metal like Death and Carcass. Sometimes they forget that they should write songs and the tracks are all about technical heavy playing and there isn’t much to listen to other than a bunch of fretboard skill. Guitar geek alert. Dumb lyrics alert.
1. Short, fast, and brutal. He’s shows off some sweep picking and some unreliable guitar technique. A shredder in death metal?
2. Damn, the pinch harmonics are too many and too often.
**3. I like the shredder guitar on this track in a mid-paced death metal track. The short sweeps sound good in this context.
4. Surprise, surprise, brutal, heavy, complicated and fast. Longer guitar solo.
**5. Sweep picking galore but also a nice pounding rhythm and an extended solo. 6. Lots of stop-n-go.
7. Thrash-y.
**8. Definite nod to Cynic with the more obvious and techie bass sounds. Quicker blasting sections and slower, longer guitar solo.
**9. A bit more of a raw sound but also heavier. A bit less techie and more thrash-y/old school death metal.
10. Like track 9, less techie, raw sound, with vocals low in the mix.
OK stuff. -mph
