Trumpet-led quartet, straight jazz with a mellow nighttime sound but not really a relaxing demeanor. Goode offers up some nice fast trumpet solos (cf. 2,8) and even gets a little wild on a couple tracks (4,6,9). Well played stuff; doesn't depart much from a jazz-nightclub feel but there's some good listening to be had here.
1- Midtempo; bright and a little mysterious. Drum solo early on. 2- Mid/slow, a quiet upbeat stroll with a nice Keith Jarrett feel
3- Gentle midtempo Monk cover
4- Whoa - hyper trumpet solo over mellow chords. Stormy intro.
5- Easygoing mid/fast, swingy. Agile piano solo.
6- Slow, romantic ... but frees up for some open group soloing
7- Midtempo, a bit soft; nice comforting feel
8- Gentle, slow pop/soul feel. Nice fleet solo.
9- Quirky mid/fast bop.
