Craig Matsumoto Reviewed 2006-08-19 | ||
Trumpet soloing over electronica soundscapes, lots of speedy chill-out kinds of vibes -- alongside swirling ambient washes with slightly ominous overtones. Slower tracks tend to sound the same, with subtle differences in the synth background... it's reminiscent of the cool-down segments of a Cirque Du Soleil show. Lots of smooth-jazzy moments; I prefer the trumpet/electronics work from Erik Trufaz, personally. 1- Midtempo near-funky snapping beat, after a gentle floaty intro 2- Light wanderings, then a heavier sci-fi beat 3- Fast evil drum-machine beat, slow trumpet melody. Shrill synth shredding later; gets fierce 4- Lonely trumpet soliloquy 5- Ethereal floating, moaning synths 6- Little groove riffs with attitude; mid-Eastern influence 7- Fairly fast and bubbling 8- Mellow slow/mid feel 9- Comforting mid/fast melody; stiffer, tougher rhythm. 10- Droney. Tense yet comforting beat. 11- Mid/slow with smooth-jazz vocals. Quiet guitar & piano keep the pace amid synth washes |
