Mostly killer collection of now-era hard rock & heavy metal bands. A few new ones (Witch, The Sword, Danava, Torche) and a few that have been kicking around awhile (High On Fire, Fucking Champs, Dungen, Big Business, Witchcraft). The best tracks make something new of the classic tones & tonalities. Whereas the weakest tracks try to make something from detritus of the 70's & 80's.
(((1)))) Great rockin’ doomy riff but bland, incomprehensible vocals.
(((((2))))) Perfect mix of twin leads, Sabbath-y crossed with “2112”-era Rush bombast and some trippy keyboards
(((((3))))) Huge low end sound, shouted vocals . Vocals are an “aquirred taste” but work well over time.
((((4)))) Rawking twang & organ that mixes the Stooges, Hawkwind & Loop. Really fun stuff!
(((((5)))))) Fuckin’ aye! Giant doom riffage by a bunch of doods that know the specfics of Witchfinder General.
(((((6))))) Crazy, off-kilter fuzz & flute jam ‘ala Jethro Tull wacked out on Swedish mead.
((((7)))) Great guitar mangling by J. Mascis (Dino Jr.) with some elf on 'shrooms doing vocals.
((((8)))) Fun, video-gamey, prog-metal riffery.
((((((9)))))) Ultra dense & ab-sol-utely rockin’ your sorry ass into hell. Thuderous riffs atop soaring melodic vocals. Aint’ much heavier or louder than this!
((((10)))) Strangely not one of their heavier tracks. Pretty, arty, meandering. Goes through tons of shifts in volume & tempo.
(((((((11))))))) Heavy fucking metal - it’s THAT simple!
((((12))))) Traditional doom with a nice St. Vitus/Pentagram vibe
(((13))) Heavy (not really metal), loud as hell, O.T.T. noise. Is this a cover of Wolf Eyes or a salute to them?
(14) Stupid-ass fake “joke metal” b.s. with King Diamond on helium doing vox.
(15) Ugh! Lame boogie rawk. Takes a wrong turn on at the Grand Funk Railroad.
((16)) Good riff & twin leads but too much on the UFO/Zeppelin obsesso all the way down to the AWFUL lyrics!
(((17))) Noisey, rumbling sound. Lots of distortion, heavy in a different sorta way.
(18) Good drumbeat ruined by a bunch of dopey “boogie rawk”. I bet they all play shirtless.
