Album Review

Basic black/pagan metal sung in Norwegian (minus “Ravenheart” which is in English). Not too harsh on the ears but nothing overly glossy to the point of it being forceful or cheesy. Vocals are typically grim but with a supringsly clear enunciation (you don’t have to know Norwegian to hear the clarity). Not as soul stirring as usual but still worth your time – especially the 2nd half of the album.
((1)) Really basic riff with very little varation.
(((2))) Kinda drags but is a bit compelling with use of grim vox & good breakdowns.
((((3)))) Nice build up coupled with a very wintery aesthetic & often epic feeling. Makes you wanna trudge through the forest.
(((4))) Pure, ugly & kinda raw. Some pretty good breakdowns & beats.
((((5)))) Jagged riff, ravenous vocals, strangely sing-songy feeling. Gets fast & thrashy near the end.
((((6)))) Folksy strumming & steady groove. Good use of rudimentary chords. Fast Norwegian folk melodies & black metal by way of punk?
