Upbeat fusion-tinged grooves with Dave Liebman on sax, adding some excellent free-jazz touches. You'll find Bianco (drums) on some abstract free-improv discs in our library, but here, he pulls out the rock/fusion influences: electric guitar and electric piano, solid steady beats and grooves, space for Liebman's shredding solos -- and of course lots of dense and complex drumming. Adds balaphon (a xylophone-like wooden instrument) for some "world" touches. Great stuff; play any track! 1- Mid/fast, kind of a "traditional" fusion sound 2- Coolly swingy, even bluesy. 3- Fast with balaphon clacking, slow sax lead for a breezy feel 4- Deep mystery: High flute and dark guitar/drums 5- Fast chugging, a bit funky. 6- A bit darker, but fast. Lots of guitar noise and drums. 7- A mid/fast cooldown 8- Indian? Indonesian? Percussive chimes and pipey flute. Fast, pleasant, and very "ethnic" sounding 9- Mid/fast, starts rather mellow but gets spikes of intensity 10- Fast beat, cool fusion feel. Bright, upbeat, a little crazy 11- Brisk, raw free jazz sax blare. Drums/sax duet. |
