Sound In Action Trio - Gate

Ken Vandermark in one of his many ensembles, this is a trio with 2 excellent, sensitive drummers. The tracks are a mix of Vandermark compositions and tracks from 60s jazz luminaries, all fairly short with less soloing than one might expect. All tracks are amazing.

*1. Cool repetitive med tempo
*2. Dolphy track, features bs clarinet and cool drum solos
3. Melancholy bluesy sax w/ laid back drums, builds energy
4. Ethereal ballad, wisps of sound
**5. Stately march, subdued, then swing
*6. Med tempo swing with an exotic beat, gets busier with great sax
7. Funky swing
8. Tender ballad
*9. Coltrane track, excellent evocation of his 60s sound
*10. Ayler tune - slow and stately, not as screechy as the original
*11. Laid back clarinet bop
