MODERN LIFE IS WAR – “My Love. My Way.” CD (Deathwish)
Straight forward hardcore with emo/screamo leanings. Melodic guitars and pained, screamed vocals that you can mostly understand. Modern melodic hardcore. No metal influences, no real 80s hardcore influences, never fast, not many breakdowns, just straightforward hardcore. From Iowa of all places. (this is my review from their last album as well) This is a reissue of their first album, remastered with extra tracks. Most tracks sound the same.
1. Slow chug with huge screaming vocals.
2. Mid paced with gang backing vocals.
3. Sorta catchy.
4. Short and bombastic, the track sounds more like an intro.
**5. Posi song with gang vocals and nice melodic guitar hooks.
**6. Nice repeating guitar to begin the track. Straight forward track with lots of octaves on guitar.
**7. Short, fast and more punk sounding.
8. Slow pace big sounding drums.
**9. Head nodding track nice repetitive guitars.
10. Too much emo and too much of a rock sound in the guitars for me.
11. From their first 7”. A bit of a raw sound. Lots of gang vocals.
12. More obvious 80s straightedge influence in the sound.
Good stuff. -mph
