My favorite indie album of 2006! Sophomore release from Berlin-based singer Julia Guther and her crew. Guther sings in an understated, matter-of-fact style that resonates a certain genuineness. The vibe is carefree, but there’s definitely a melancholic emotional depth that underlies each song. Think Stereolab meets the Breeders. Excellent music for a lazy Saturday afternoon. Nothing revolutionary here, but this is very listenable, down-to-earth indie pop, executed to perfection. Love it! Highly Recommended. Favorite Tracks: 1, 2, 5, 8 - Captain Dee, December 2006 - **1. Hopeful and contemplative at the same time. Lovely! (3:46) **2. Cheerful, but restrained. Background vocals in the chorus. (3:39) 3. Strong beat, slightly stormy vibe. (3:08) *4. Downtempo, wistful. Layers of guitar towards the end. (2:49) **5. Laidback sections alternate with catchy, driving breakdowns. (5:48) *6. Mellow, strum-y guitar goodness. Nostalgic atmosphere. (4:28) *7.
