Accessible and surprisingly mellow, with french horn and violin accompanying Reddy on sax... with the violin played by Charlie Burnham of James Blood Ulmer's Odyssey. Things do get a bit crazy, with solos going outside the lines, but overall it's a solid modern effort that's not to far out for mainstream tastes; frequent touches of Ellingtonian harmonizing, for example. Touches of Latin music all over the place, too.
A different sound, really nice.
Rob Reddy (sax), Mark Taylor (french horn), Charlie Burnham (violin), Brandon Ross (guitars), Dom Richards (bass), Mino Cinelu (percussion)
1- Slow, stately
2- Kind of a Latin swing, upbeat but not too fast
3- Pleasant mid/fast march; easy swing sound.
4- Twining "world" feel, exotic sound, midtempo pace. Nice electric guitar solo.
5- Gentle anthem, pretty. Augmented by some free soloing.
6- Like soul jazz in a lazy springtime vein: Calm tones over a fast beat, in a Brazilian motif.
7- Slow and soft. Old-time swing plus fast Latin percussion
8- Easygoing with a pleasant, fast beat. Catchy, a bit circus-y.
9- Slow, artsy gypsy folk. Like Tin Hat Trio. Just 1 minute long.
10- Slow, w/speedy Spanish guitar. Kind of a strange, gloppy melody, not quite pretty. Intriguing.
