Duets of piano and zheng (stringed, koto-like instrument). Improvised stuff, often with a modern-classical feel, like the slow crystalline intro on 13; certainly not very "Chinese" sounding on most tracks. Also gets into some wilder freedom (9,11). Could be considered new agey but it's more substantial than that, with some nice dialogue on the quiet tracks and strong energy on the faster ones. Nice stuff.

See also Plimley's duet CD with Indian drummer Trichy Sankaran.

- Cute boogie-woogie riff, into fast digging improv
- Mid/fast but hestitant, nice restraint
- Bouncy, jazzy, midtempo.
- Quiet abstractions, gets choppy for a bit
- Kind of an Asian sound
- Stride-piano start, into zheng dissonance
- Slow, delicate
- Builds into nice energy; slow start
- Choppy, jazzy. Fairly fast.
- Dark but friendly feel. Mid/fast after slow start
- Nicely intense
- Slow, delicate
- Sparse. Gentle, subtle touches that build into nice melody
