LIGHT THIS CITY – “Facing the Thousand” CD (Prosthetic)
Bay area thrashy melodic death metal with female vocals. There are elements of metalcore and thrash but sticks to metal. Heavy with brutal scratchy female vocals you can almost understand. The other thing about this is that it’s relentless. They rarely slow down or let up. Think AT THE GATES and THE UNDYING.
1. Fade in keyboard intro into a big guitar riff and medium paced drums all before a big scream and a very melodic/catchy death metal sound.
2. Starts with growl and lots of low end (bass and vocals) through the whole track.
**3. Speedy thrashy melodic death metal. Straight forward and almost catchy.
**4. More catchy guitar and really fast tight drumming. Somewhat cheesy breakdown and guitar solo.
5. Slower, plodding track with some great vocals. Speeds up in the 2nd half.
6. After a somewhat cliché riff the track changes a lot into an odd rhythm dart and dash type track.
7. Headbanging thrash fun but also very melodic and catchy.
**8. 3 different vocal sounds and switching between a circular individual note riff and a low end sound.
9. Straightforward, midpaced track with guitar solo.
10. Short with slight gallop.
Good stuff. -mph
