Free jazz quintet. Lots of squirreling, breath sounds, and sucking sounds from Braxton. Great responsive drumming from Robair. The ensemble as a whole is responsive and together. Tracks 2-5 have an intro that starts with fast-moving blocked chords which gradually get out of synch, and track 6 is that theme done slow and soft.
1. Slow-chittery and avant
2. Dense squirreling, both chaotic and subdued.
3. More soloing than track 2, more chill and quiet, but tense,
introspective. Cool scratchy/creaky section at about 4 minutes left.
*4. Mostly in duos and trios, squirrelly percussion. Very slowly
builds in volume and density to about half through, then some very
sparse moments. The most diverse track.
*5. Intro to mello sax and bass duet, closest thing to traditional
jazz lines here. Other players join, great soft percussion.
6. The blocked chord theme done slow and soft.
