Accessible jazz with a modern bent to the composing. Melodic stuff, but in more of a rock sense than a normal jazz sense -- the tracks feel emotional, grand, and even a little ominous, while still being pretty. Electric guitar (Bill Frisell!) helps sustain that vibe. Band also includes sax, piano (Craig Taborn), bass, drums (Kenny Wolleson). Cut from the same cloth as Pat Metheny but less heavyhanded. Instrumental; FCC clean.

- Quirky fast chugging feel.
- Mid/fast calm pecking piano w/long sax lines, a nice mix of tension and relaxation. Catchy odd-time piano pattern.
- Floaty and rather soft melody, builds to nice intensity.
- Mid/fast mellow, catchy riff, builds into a passionate frenzy. Last few minutes build on a sunrise-y grand prog riff.
- Slow, Ethereal
- Steady midtempo pulse, a pleasant 2-minute blip
- Midtempo. Grand open-sky feel; nice guitar space near the end. Quiet piano intro.
- Short squelchy interlude, a slow sequel to #1
- Dreamy, floaty, ominous. Abstract. Very quiet in the last minute.
- Long drawn lines over a frenzy of drums. Nice effect.
