Album Review
Your Imaginary Friend
Reviewed 2007-02-07
Buncha freaks from that bastion of freaks, Texas, playing parody, silly, spoofs of songs and themes with a mix of musical styles. Lets face it, “comedy music” is a crap shoot, usually sucks ass.. If this was recorded slick it would suck, but it definitely has a genuineness about it that is enhanced greatly by the use of recreational drugs (including cough syrup, all you underage kids out there). Sorta like an Odeon Bar version of Weird Al. For example: Folsom Prison Blues sung by the Cookie Monster (track 4). For fans of Zappa, Guaranteed Katch, Dick Panthers, King Missle, Extreme Elvis, Shel Silverstein. Play it, and smoke pot smoke pot everybody smoke pot.

My Picks: 3, 4 (Cookie Monster Prison Blues), 5, 7, 15 FCCs: 8, 9, 13, 16 (safe harbor okay)

1) silly “rap-funk” parody of Bob Dylan’s “All I really want to do” (is have sex with you)
2) Celticesque folk, singing about having money
3) dark burlesque swing version of “the worms crawl in the worms crawl out” nursery rhyme
4) yes, the Cookie Monster sings Johnny Cash classic “Folsom Prison Blues”, country style, except the kazoo replaces the choice guitar leads...
5) huh? This is really strange cuz it passes as a “real” song, sorta, like, swingy and low-fi and noisey rock
6) a folky ode to the Winged Gnome Goddess, hilarious
7) a Celtic folky version of Rock the Casbah, always fun to do folk versions of “punk” classics
8) FCC
9) FCC
10) folky cover of Ames Brothers sad drinking song
11) folk parody of 80’s “rap” song by MC Lucious (I love how they used the term “rap” in the liner notes… give ‘em a break, theyre from texas afterall)
12)swing rock a la Neil Young about “worrisome body parts”, good
13) FCC
14) “folk/mens chorus version of Ween classic” She Wanted To Leave
15) interesting noise aspect, strange low fi dark with silly spoken word
16) Quick FCC: The List of Things That are Bad: folk rock, title says it all
17) folk rock, really silly, song is only ~3:25, 2 min silence then a few obligatory annoying “hidden tracks”, more silly folk
