Solo female artist plays electric guitar with lots of space and reverb, somewhat doomy if not ambient and lush with operatic layers of vocals singing indecipherable lyrics, more like a musical instrument itself. Think: all things Current 93, 4AD, Jarboe Swans, This Mortal Coil. Beautiful stuff, long slow to evolve tracks that seem more gothy/spooky than something on the Kranky label until after about 10 minutes when the hypnotism and ambience begins to really take hold. FCC clean. My picks: 3, 4 1) gothy slow feel with breathy operatic layers of vocals, over heavily reverbed simple guitar cords slowly build in intensity 2) flanged guitar, strummy guitar, indecipherable singing 3) flanger love, slow minimal guitar to start, vocals come in slow, “fragile”, guitar arpeggios, pretty 4) very slow strum and phrasing, glacial effect is takes hold in a great way, hypnotic, narcotic | ||
