[coll]: Shake It! Off the Hip Sampler

Loud-ass garage rock from Down the hell Under. Lots of Nuggets. British Invasion, a bit of New Wave and Cramps, all loud and energetic. After a stressful week, listening to 1.2 hours of this straight through was so goddamn cathartic! It’s all good, some of it is so good it’s downright painful.
FCCs: I’m pretty sure there’s “fucks” on 9 and 10, but most of the vocals on all tracks are damn hard to make out.
22 is my fave track, but everything with 3 and 4 stars kills.
1. 3:05 ***big 60’s rock ‘n’ roll fuzz guitar, lots of energy, early Stones meets Faster Pussycat.
2. 2:27 ***somewhat uptempo beach party girl group, jangly guitars. You can do the Pony to this.
3. 2:33 ****farfisa intro, high speed Nugget garage rock
4. 1:49 ***distorted guitars and screaming, uptempo, great simple riff.
5. 2:47 ***uptempo punk/early Who, endearing vocals.
6. 3:25 **a bit uptempo, keyboard-based, vocals reminiscent of the Cramps. Big ending.
7. 2:21 ****spoken sci-fi movie intro, hyperspeed surfer stomp.
8. 2:38 **single note intro, then sweet jangly pop. Listen to what the flower people say.
9. 3:30 May be an FCC at 2:30 – sounds like “fuck up” but I can’t be sure. ***huge garage rock, big bass sound.
10. 2:29 May be an FCC at around 1:00 – sounds like “fuck”, again hard to be sure. **noisy intro, then loud and screamy uptempo garage punk.
11. 2:55 ***slightly uptempo guitar-based Nuggetsy garage punk
12. 3:28 ***midtempo, driving beat, switches to high speed and back, fine vocals.
13. 2:36 **uptempo punk, megaphone vocals
14. 3:32 ***drum ‘n’ bass intro, squealing guitar, uptempo punk with distorted vocals, Troggs-ish beat, nice and heavy. These guys clearly mean it…
15. 2:01 ***midtempo pretty pop with loud guitars
16. 5:08 ****somewhat uptempo British Invasion pop-rock, straightforward 4/4 beat, definitely Kinksy.
17. 3:30 ***midtempo rock, fun, simple riff, pretty vocals and rather rude lyrics.
18. 3:04 ***uptempo – Cramps knock-off, but that ain’t no crime. Random noise at end.
19. 3:16 ***jangly hard pop, British Invasion harmonies, uptempo, lots of changes.
20. 3:14 **electric folk, jangly guitars and keyboards, pleasant vocals, well crafted Mod sound.
21. 2:32 **uptempo jangly pop rock, great energy
22. 4:39 *****big drum intro, big bass line, big guitar, midtempo and primal, rawk and fugging roll. Whatever’s in Wissahikken’s gotta be good. Long echo outro.
23. 3:19 ***fast 60’s electric folk-rock with a bit of early Who.
24. 2:25 ****midtempo farfisa and bass, very groovy. You really CAN do the Jerk to this. Yay! Last 15 seconds or so seem to be from an old TV dance show.
25. 2:21 ****Yeah, it’s got farfisa, but lots of guitar and attitude, too Whew!
