The Randies: "Saw the Light" (2006)
Power-pop/punk/indie rock from the L.A.-based quartet featuring three
female vocalists and one male drummer. Two of the ladies play
guitar, and one plays bass. This driving garage rock is primarily
up-tempo and good for an injection of energy into any set. The
lyrics are definitely worth a listen.
FCC clean. Picks: 2, 4, 7.
1. (4:26): Driving tempo, amazing drums, story of a heartbreak.
*2. (3:13): Frenetic tempo provide backdrop to smart lyrics.
3. (3:25): Driving tempo that slows in middle and picks up at end in
an eerie twist on religion. Ends at :11.
**4. (4:46): A bit slower pace and lovely vocals for this nice love
ballad. Ends at :05.
5. (4:32): Catchy and fast with appealing lyrics. Ends at :06.
6. (3:36): Hard, fast rock accompanies lyrics about
self-destruction. Ends at :08.
*7. (2:56): Jarring guitars punctuated by skilled drums and clever
lyrics make this song a winner.
8. (3:50): A bit quieter in the beginning, like a rock lullaby, that
has a rude awakening. Ends at :10.
9. (3:12): Hard and driving tempo. Seems to track through to 10.
10. (3:39): Solemn, but still driving story of a bitter breakup. Ends at :04.
11. (4:43): Gentler vocals segueing into an up-tempo beat belying a
sad story. At 1:40 tempo changes into funereal dirge but builds
again to frenetic pitch. Ends at :23.
