Fujiya & Miyagi: Transparent Things (Deaf Dumb + Blind Communications)
British electronic indie pop. fun, but subdued, male pop vox (whispers occasionally). Lots of synth, simple bass lines, and drum (machine?). “quircky” (I hate that word…) non sequitur lyrics. Moments of funkiness. Tracks mostly share a consistent sound. High quality pop…BUT non-challenging, and hence a little boring after a while. A calmer LCD Soundsystem? A MUCH more sedate (read: less-interesting) Talking Heads? No Fccs. Play #3, 4, 5, 9
1) 5:04 – quick/mid tempo; simple beat; repetitive bass + synth chords. Starts w/rep. vox whispering. Gentle pop vox. Buzzsy synth grows louder.
2) 4:03 – soft, straightforward dance beat. A little funky. Kinda cool whispering vox interplay. Scratchy guitar near end. Ends a capella.
3) 4:05 – dance funk. Mid-tempo. Breathy, slick vox. Some singing in French. Droney Organ synth.
4) 4:09 – warm instrumental. starts w/ synth melody + quick percussion. Swells of synth.
5) 2:55 – starts w/ synth swell. Loungey pop. a little Fleetwood mac?
6) 2:40 – funk. Dual vox (female + male). fu
7) 3:43 – dance. Straightforward beat + bass.
8) 6:31 – upbeat pop instrumental. synth melodies over repetitive bass line. Straight forward percussion. Takes a while to get going.
9) 3:12 – soft lullaby vox; peaceful instrumental layer. Slow, sleepy. Happy?
10) 2:21 –more relazed pop. smooth jazz/soul synth + bass…too restrained to be funk. Sax.
