Sad Machinery Of Spring, The

More gypsy jazz/folk from "Tin Hat Trio," except they're not a trio, and they're getting weirder. The band now includes clarinet and trumpet alongside a violin/guitar base, plus Zeena Parkins on harp. Lots of gypsy-style music with a sad tinge, sometimes recalling movie soundtracks (5,10,12), but with a modern attitude and sometimes an eerie sheen. Great stuff that could fit into jazz, world, or indie-rock shows. FCC clean.

7- Slowish, w/strong violin and trumpet leads
8- Stern mid/fast, snappy.
9- Metallic harp plucking, spare
10- A slow feel but upbeat, w/strong melody.
11- Reprise of 4, in wispy light violin curls. Music-box pretty.
12- Airy and mostly quiet
13- Vaudeville jazzy with a quirky feel. Cool bass clarinet and low piano later.
14- Midtempo sad theme. Slow old-west guitar (dobro?) later.
15- Slow, warmly sad. Pretty.
