Wonderful fado, recorded live in Portugal. She has a warm, velvety, slightly husky, passionate voice and excellent technique and is backed by a full orchestra (arranged/conduced by Jacques Morelenbaum who also plays cello). Watch for applause, especially at end of tracks. Because it’s Fado, the song have a similar sound, and it’s all good, but these were especially so: 1. Lush strings, slow & tragic. Ends w/applause & thanks. 4:41 3. Upbeat w/crowd clapping along. False end at 2:04. 3:14 4. Midtempo w/light strings and lots of heartbreakingness. 3:41 7. Slow & rich w/lots of strings adding lyricism. 3:44 8. Slow vox/cello. Haunting, dark, moving. 3:11 9. Tragic, with soaring vocals. A great showcase for her vox. 5:00 10. Another bouncy track w/crowd clapping along. 2:28 12. Heavy percussion, an upbeat track. Serious drum solo. 5:09 14. There’s a nice sort of folk sound to this sad track. 5:25 15. Slow, but with a bit more hope than other tracks. Pretty. 4:49 |
