Dub/reggae-influenced garage-psychedelia. A reissue of a “1977 lost classic”. Thus says the press-release, but my sources say otherwise. On myspace, School Police (two individuals, Wackey and Zachary, from Austin, Texas) list the Breeders as an influence and the vocal melodies in one song sound like Nirvana which makes me go… “these jokers are trying to pull a number on us”. In any rate, this is a uniquely sounding lo-fi project. Dub production and sound effects, reggae beats, funky guitars and vocals that will remind you anything from Brian Wilson (Beach Boys) to Kurt Cobain (Nirvana). I like the concept, but not exactly rocking… especially for a 1977 era band. Yeah right!
Play4,8,2
1. A few secs of noise.
2. Duby/reggae-ish.
3. Happy Beach Boy-ish vocal
4. Rocking dance-y. Funky guitars. Cool whistling. Nice!
5. Nirvana-sque vocals.
6. Bring on the dub! Chill-lazy summer-y vocals.
7. Aimless with syrupy vocal harmonies. Not good.
8. Raggae-ish guitar-driven tune with vocal melodies that sound like Nirvana.
9. Sparse with happy/bright vocals.
10. Noise.
