Your Imaginary Friend

Dissonant and angular guitar centered noise rock with pop, almost indie rock, qualities. Not a standard guitar chord or more than three 4/4 time signatures strung together to be found. Fans of Heavy Vegetable, Sonic Youth, no-wave’isms of The Fucking Ocean, DNA, Gang of Four. Could fit in with Ex-Models almost as easily as Hella, Trans Am or a prog outfit. Most songs follow the same off-kilter recipe so pick any (FCC clean).

1) angular dissonant but upbeat indie pop melodies and structure, sentiments
2) angular mathy noise guitar, lyrics come in midway
3) upbeat and cute one moment and noise washes the next, very H. Vegetable
4) dissonant guitar arpeggios looping abounding
5) catchy hook, more stop/go angularisms, not a standard guitar chord in sight
6) almost a prog feel to this, great false start kept in the mix, last minute or so is an exercise in stop go, off-times
7) melodic vocs, more of same textures
8) strange juxtaposition between “normal” indie rock vocals and off-time, off-key everything else, this ones slower
9) kind of same music, except for the near waltzy parts, spoken poetry parts
10) halting, again
11) fast slow parts
12) more of the same, lots of parts, good stuff
