This is some serious nasty orchestrated cello playing. I mean that as a sincere compliment, this could easily fit in with good metal and hardcore, Two Ton Boa, etc. Ms. Chesley has a master's in cello performance from Northwestern and has been recording for over a decade with other artists, for some time as a band named Verbow, she's also played in recording sessions for Bob Mould. This is excellent music. I recommend all of it. Really. But if you must know, I like 4,5,7 seriously though read the descriptions and pick one. 1 noisy and orchestrated 2 more sparse, pensive 3 noisy and orchestrated, climactic elements 4 romantic sounding somehow 5 beginning has that sort of Christina Carter ambience, but only a bit faster, it breaks out into something nice and intellectual, great 6 something elemental, makes me think of (Arvo) Part in his sort of tintinabulation 7 nice and pretty, moment of repose, woman shouting in the background, Current 93? 8 noisy 'rock' (?!), Two Ton Boa 9 tick tock, breaks out 10 very noisy and dramatic 11 low end noise rumble, long fade out, gets very soft at end. |
