Mainstream jazz with what you might call an indie sound: A two-sax quartet with a youthful, non-staid sound to their playing. Energy level is pretty high even on most of the slower tunes, which get aggressive as the solos build (4,5). Nice stuff.
- Old standard done upbeat and mid/fast
- Midtempo, quietly slinky. Retro exotic feel.
- Happy; mid/fast 9/8 rhythm. Nice cross-soloing by the saxes
- A gentle mid/fast pace, peaceful but builds
- Kind of a middle-eastern groove, gets fierce
- Slightly heavy mood, gets more intense later
- Slow, warm, comforting
- Snappy and fairly fast, a good time. Kind of a late-'60s sound.
