Were I not such a big, big fan of "Discipline," I'd declare this King Crimson's best album. Tracks 1 and 6 are essential: Big, ambitious, raucous instrumentals with a definite structure (you can hum along) and a grand sense of drama. And track 6 concludes with Robert Fripp's beloved 5/4 time signature.
Having Jamie Muir on percussion really did add to the sound. (Muir would leave to become a Buddhist monk, or something like that, after this album came out.) David Cross on violin adds delicious tension, and John Wetton is the least annoying he would ever be.
Robert Fripp is on guitar, of course. Bill Bruford on drums.
This is one of those albums that's in Zookeeper twice -- once for vinyl, once for CD.
