Funky rock with lots of syncopation and electronica, from Monterrey, Mexico’s biggest stars. Although they have huge amounts of electronics in the mix, they’re basic drum ‘n’ bass ‘n’ guitar ‘n’ vocals. Some remixes of their hits and unreleased stuff, and the last three tracks are live in the studio and totally danceworthy.
No FCCs detected. 9 and the last three tracks are my faves.
1. 3:39 **Mexican announcer intro, then uptempo dance/rave beat with lots of bass and sweet vocals.
2. 4:29 **rockin’ electronic cover.
3. 2:21 ***funky midtempo electronic dance instrumental with groovy percussion.
4. 4:04 **funky midtempo electronic dance with lots of pretty vocals and odd noises.
5. 3:41 ***midtempo with a bit of spy movie feel. Remix of a big hit of theirs in English and Spanish.
6. 3:50 ***uptempo mix of classic norteno tune and electronic dance. Interesting…
7. 3:09 ***squeapy electronic intro, then downtempo boppy shuffle. Very danceable yet odd sounding.
8. 1:48 ***uptempo groovy shuffle with lots of syncopation, keyboard, squawks. This almost sounds like Zappa…
9. 5:04 ****funky electronic rock remix, insidious as hell.
10. 3:53 **electronic squeepy intro, then uptempo dance bop with repeated female saying “you know you wanna dance.”
11. 3:33 **downtempo and kinda spooky quavery, then groovy syncopated beat. Remix of Oye Como Va, but basically only one musical phrase.
12. 4:04 ****starts with female humming and repeated bits of speaking in English. Then upbeat funky rock with lots of bass and electronics. Another version of their hit of which track 9 is a remix.
13. 4:55 *****superfly! Lots of drum, horns, superfunktotal. Vocals in English. Bits of psychedelic rock, farfisa.
14. 5:31 ****uptempo danceable mambo-bop-a-cumbia… Or something, I dunno!
